At Bankling, it’s our goal to make your life easier. We dish out a lot of advice on topics like “how to save more” and “how to increase net investing returns by keeping fees low.” These sorts of guidelines are great, but unfortunately, they don’t address the selection of the actual financial products you’ll need to reach your goals. Because no matter how much cash you save, you’ll eventually want to store it in a specific bank.

And the sad truth is, most financial products and Web sites exist to generate profit for the creator or issuer of the product (or Web site), rather than to deliver value to the person using the product. There are exceptions of course: companies we love, like Scottrade, Vanguard, and ING Direct, have made their name delivering value to the every day people who use their product. And comparison sites like Bankrate.com and BankingMyWay.com have given consumers better information and added transparency to the shopping cycle.

With our Bankling Rates section, we list what we think are the best offers and comparison engines out there, for each major financial product category. In the interest of full disclosure: some of the companies we include in our Rates pages have affiliate programs, and we monetize their listings with such. We do not however include or disinclude a particular company on the basis of whether or not they have an affiliate program (some great companies do not have any affiliate program whatsoever, while many very profitable affiliate programs promote products that are of low value). In any case, we stand behind our rate shopping recommendations, and encourage you to use a search engine to find other sources for rates and comparison shopping–we’re guessing you’ll find that most of the best resources are listed right here at Bankling. So yeah, we gotta pay our bills somehow, but no, we’re not “just another fake comparison site.” We’re Bankling, for crying out loud!
