The Ultimate Guide to Free Samples: 50+ Ways to Get Free Product Samples

Everyone loves free samples. There’s nothing quite getting something for nothing. Even if it’s nothing more than a bottle of shampoo or a can of dog food, it is a triumph to legally obtain a product that you use without paying for it. With that in mind, I offer 50+ ways to enjoy free samples. Because, really, you could be doing something else with your money.

Free Beauty and Makeup Samples

180px-supermarktIf you want to look your best, but you don’t want to pay a lot (beauty and makeup products can be expensive), check out these sites for ways to beautify yourself without breaking the bank.

  1. FreeMakeupSamples.com offers links to companies that are giving away free samples of their makeup and other beauty products. This site also includes beauty tips as well as a fun “virtual makeover” feature.
  2. Free Beauty Tips is more than just a site full of beauty tips; it also offers free product samples from a number of cosmetic companies. Contests and more included.
  3. Sephora actually provides free samples. There are free samples with every order, and when you buy more than $50 worth of product, you get free shipping. Plus, you can sign up for a free birthday gift.
  4. CosmeticMall.com offers discount cosmetics and beauty supplies, and even provides free samples on occasion. You can find a number of makeup and beauty products on sale — or even for free.
  5. Total Beauty is a makeup and beauty advice site, that also includes free samples of beauty products and cosmetics.
  6. Signature Minerals feautres what is called mineral makeup. This is makeup that is generally associated with “green” makeup. It’s usually organic. You can get free samples and learn a little bit more anout mineral makeup.
  7. Lavera specializes in organic makeup and beauty products. You can get free samples of cosmetics, lotions and cleansers — all of them organic and not tested on animals.

Free Baby Products Samples

If you are expecting — and especially if you already have a baby — you know that things can be expensive. Luckily, there are plenty of free samples of baby products, from food to diapers. One of my favorite sites for all things baby is Babylune.

  1. Babies Online offers a range of baby product freebies, from magazines to diapers to coupons.
  2. Baby Cheapskate is all about the deep discounts. You can find free samples, but it is nice to have a place where you can go to find discounts on baby products as well.
  3. MomsView.com provides a place where you can find baby product freebies, as well as coupons and free samples of baby formula and food.
  4. Earth’s Best is an organic baby food company. It’s the next best thing to making your own baby food. Earth’s best offers its own free baby food samples, as well as other baby product freebies when you make purchases.
  5. YeahBaby.com provides a section on free baby stuff. Samples, gift cards, bath time sets, baby formula — and even free maternity clothes. Plus, the site has a baby name generator to help you decide on a name.
  6. Go to the source: Both Enfamil and Similac offer free formula samples and other offers when you register on their Web sites. Baby formula is expensive, and any savings can be helpful. Parent’s Choice and Member’s Mark baby formula brands also offer free samples.

Free Seeds Samples

With recession and movements toward more sustainable living, it is no surprise that many people are interested in starting their own gardens. If you plan properly, you won’t even have to pay for the seeds.

  1. Winter Sown includes information on sowing your seeds during the winter. Get free seeds and learn how to start planning your garden.
  2. America the Beautiful Fund offers seeds meant to help you beautiful your property. Free flower seeds and herb seeds are available. I have an herb garden, and I love it.
  3. Tomato Bob provides free seeds for school projects and community gardens.
  4. Garden.org has a seed swap. You can offer surplus seeds of your own in exchange for seeds that you need. It’s an excellent way to find free seeds for your low-cost vegetable garden.
  5. Harvest your own vegetable seeds. You can get free seeds when you save the seeds from this year’s garden. (Trade extras in a swap.)
  6. Sprout your own seeds from the grocery store. While not exactly “free” you can get more bang for your buck when you sprout beans, potatoes, melons and even some fruit (apples and peaches) from produce you routinely buy at the store. Just save out some of your produce and plants the seeds.
  7. FreeFlowerSeed.com offers free flower seeds. Beautify your home with a beautiful flower garden.
  8. Consider offers from seed suppliers. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to start a vegetable garden, you can find free seed offers (usually one or two packets) from seed suppliers such as Hume Seeds and Burts Bees.

Free Dog Food and Pet Supplies Samples

Taking care of pets is a big responsibility. It also gets rather pricey. You can defray some of the cost by finding pet supplies and food freebies.

  1. Flint River Ranch offers health food for cats and dogs. You can get free samples of their food by filling out an online form.
  2. TalktotheVet.com provides a handy list of free pet supplies and food.
  3. ZooToo.com offers a number of free samples for pet supplies and pet food.
  4. Pet Market provides a place where you can find a number of discount supplies and food, as well as get handy tips for pet care. Free samples and coupons can also be found on this Web site.
  5. Benny Bully’s specializes in pet treats. However, there are types of pet food, and you can fill out a form to receive free samples.
  6. You can get free cat food samples by going directly to such businesses as Fancy Feast and Chatchow (by Purina). Go to Bluebluff.com to get samples from a number of sites in order to compare them to what is offered by Blue Buffalo.
  7. Go direct to the source to get free dog food samples from Mighty Dog, Whites Premium and Blue Buffalo (a similar offer to the cat food samples).

Free Perfume Samples

You want to smell nice, but perfume — especially good perfume — can cost quite a bit. However, you can get free fragrance samples to help reduce your outlay. Plus, if you use your perfume freebies sparingly, they can lost a long time.

  1. Styleforfree.com provides a great list of free fragrance samples, along with other beauty samples.
  2. Go to your local department store or drug store and ask for samples of the latest perfumes. You can usually get a small vial as a sample.
  3. Free Sample Forager offers a section just on perfume sample sources. Other free samples are also available.
  4. Fragrance.net provides discounts and free perfume samples. You can also sign up for coupons and take advantage of free shipping and other offers.
  5. For men’s cologne free samples, you can go to the Web sites of Dunhill, Hugo, Stetson and more to poke around and see about getting freebies.
  6. Now Smell This offers perfume reviews, freebies and information on the latest fragrances.
  7. Celebrities are coming out with perfumes left and right, and they are willing to offer free samples. Get free samples of perfume from lines by Christina Aguilera, Celine Dion, Britney Spears, J. Lo and more.

Free Coffee Samples

“The best part of waking up…” Coffee freebies to help you get your morning fix. Without destroying your finances with the “Latte Factor.”

  1. Coffee Fair provides a list of free coffee samples and offers, not to mention information about coffee as well as videos of coffee-related things.
  2. Freecoffeesite.com allows you to fill out a form for free coffee samples. You can choose from a number of options, including coffee with ginseng (do you really need that?) and cappuccino.
  3. Coffee Samples. Yeah, it’s just what it sounds like.
  4. As with other freebies, you can go straight to the source. Dunkin’ Donuts, Folgers, Flying Bean, Starbucks and others all offer you the chance to order free samples.
  5. Coffeemate offers free samples and coupons on creamer — no worries over spending money for what you put in your coffee.
  6. I don’t actually drink coffee, but I love hot cocoa. You can get free samples from sites such as Nestle, Stephens and others. Plus, many of them offer free Chai samples as well.

Free Condom Samples

One of the interesting trends coming out of the recession is that people are having more sex as an alternative to going out and spending money on entertainment. Condom sales are up, but you don’t have to pay for them. Here are some places where you can get some condom freebies.

  1. Freecondomsamples.com offers a place where you can get samples from a number of brands. Also included on the site: Information on practicing safe sex and birth control.
  2. Freecondoms.com is actually available exclusively on Facebook now.
  3. Club Condom provides information and free samples to those looking to educate themselves about responsible sex. Focus is on STDs.
  4. In many towns, you can go to Planned Parenthood to find free condoms and get information on responsible sex. You can also get free female condoms from Planned Parenthood.
  5. Different condom manufacturers also offer free condom samples: Jolly Johns, Trojan and Rip n’ Roll are among the possibilities.

Free Samples: General Web Sites

You can find free samples on freebie Web sites, according to category. You can even ask manufacturers and others for free samples. Some of my favorite places to look for general freebies include:
